Photo Birth Announcments

Once your order is placed, please email your high resolution image(s) to photos@imag-inations.com. We must have high resolution images in order to print your Birth Announcements or other Card, so please do not downsize your images - send them just as they are when they are downloaded from your camera. Typically, around 2000 pixels wide/tall is needed.

If you are unable to send large image files due to your email program (some programs such as Hotmail and others, automatically downsize images when emailing) you may use www.yousendit.com - a free and easy service that allows you to send large files over the internet.

By ordering from Imag-inations, you are stating that you own the copyright of the images that you provide. If you are using images taken by a professional photographer, you will need to obtain written permission from the photographer, and submit that to us (you may have the photographer email a release to photos@imag-inations.com). If you check 'No' on the order form to the question "Was your photo taken by a professional photographer?",  you are thereby assuming ALL liability for any Copyright Infringement, and agree to hold Imag-inations harmless in any ensuing Copyright Infringement claims or lawsuits.

After receiving your order and high resolution images, we will email you a digital proof of your Card, within 24-48 hours. At that point, the Proofing process begins and you may request however many revisions you prefer. Remember - your card will not be printed until you are 100% happy with the Design!

• Lighting - Natural light (more so than flash photography), can be very pleasing in Birth Announcement photos - try placing your subject(s) in a safe, well lit spot, near a large window for example. Turn off your camera's flash and see if you can get a good, naturally lit image, before resorting to flash photography.

• Background - Choose a simple and uniform background for your photos. A solid sheet or blanket works well for baby. Avoid patterned blankets or fabric. Take a sample shot and clear your background of any clutter or objects, or reposition subject so distracting background elements aren't in the shot.

• Clothing - Keep clothing simple as well. Solid colors or simple patterns work best for Birth Announcements.

• Focus - Make sure the images you choose for your Card are sharp and in focus. Try using a tripod if shooting without a flash in low light situations. Babies are especially notorious for not holding still, so take many shots, so you are more likely to get some in focus.

• Composition - Come in close to your subject when taking your pictures. Don't include a lot of unnecessary background. When shooting close-ups of fingers, toes, etc. for Birth Announcements - come in close and shoot only those areas (but not so close that your camera has trouble focusing).

• Color - no need to worry about converting your image to black and white or sepia toned, if that's what you will want - we will do that for you, so please take all images in full color.

• Retouching and Editing - we will do all necessary editing, retouching and cropping.

• If you have other questions, or need further help in getting that perfect picture for your Birth Announcements or other Card Design, don't hesitate to email us at info@imag-inations.com.
